More Information

Millsleigh Irish Sport Horse and Pony Stud was undertaken in 2005 as the first Project of “Intersection Management Services CC” a registered Closed Corporation, the Sole Member Zena Penfold a Professional Project Manager (previously Project Management Institute certified) in the IT Industry.

In 2012 the second Project was established to continue and conserve the legacy of the Nationally known Ashgar Connemara Stud in Clarens, in collaboration with the owner Christine Walwyn. An article describing her legacy (written by herself) supports the Conservation menu above. Millsleigh Stud provides the facilities and land required to breed South Africa's remaining generation of pure-bred Connemara Ponies.

Recognising the need for further education in Horse Care and Horsemanship in the Central Free State and Lesotho, the third Project has been established. Accredited with the Council of Equine and Equestrian Professional Body of Southern Africa (CEEPSA) as an authorised training provider it is intended to deliver part-qualifications in the form of Equestrian Qualifications Authority of South Africa (EQASA) Modules 1-4. These modules directly align with the National Qualifications Framework Levels 1-4 providing a pathway to the Equestrian Coach/Instructor and Equine Business Management courses at Levels 5-7 (full-qualification). Millsleigh Horse and Pony Learning Centre will offer residential courses imparting knowledge, practical training with our Stud and Riding horses with access to external Work Experience opportunities when appropriate. Module 1 commences 15 January 2018. Entry Requirements, Schedule and Pricing are explained above. Further education (Pony Club qualifications) may be offered from time to time during school holidays.
